I don't know about you, but structured routines where I know I am taking care of myself and preparing for a successful day just hit the spot. It may just be my personality type or my zodiac sign (Capricorn), but following a set routine every morning makes it feel as though, in this crazy world where things change every single day, I have some form of control. Routines makes me feel like I know what I'm doing, even when I am learning more and more things about myself and the world every single day.
Whether it is a week day or weekend, I always follow this routine.

The Routine (Length: about 1 hour):
1. Wake up
On week days, I normally wake up at 6-6:15 am, allowing me enough time to get ready for school. The time varies based on the night before (I tend to sleep between the general times of 10:30 - 11:00 pm).
On weekends, I usually wake up around 7-7:45 am.
Overall, I try to get in 7-8 hours of sleep every night and try to wake up before 8:00 am.
2. Eat Breakfast
I cannot stress it enough how important it is to start your day with breakfast. For those coffee lovers out there, if your stomach hurts and you did not accompany your coffee with some substance, the reason you may be feeling this way might be due to lack of food. I also highly recommend matcha, especially for digestion. Ultimately, just listen to your body and your hunger cues.
My breakfasts vary all the time because, everyday, my body craves different foods. When I'm not super hungry but know I still need to nourish myself, I tend to eat a yogurt bowl, smoothie, or a single piece of avocado toast. On days when I am feeling a little hungrier, I tend to eat oatmeal, eggs and toast, larger yogurt bowls, or a breakfast sandwich/breakfast wrap.

3. Skincare / Bathroom
After cleaning up from breakfast, I head over to the bathroom, where I brush my teeth, do my skincare, change, and fix my hair. I love putting on a playlist during this stage of my routine.
4. Journal
Using the Five Minute Journal, I set my intentions for the day. I highly recommend journaling as it has helped me shift to a much more positive and calm mindset.
5. Pack / Start My To-Do List
On weekdays, I head downstairs to pack my food/books for school.
On weekends, I head to my desk and begin my work for the day. I write my to-do lists the night before, so by the morning, I can just hop into the day's tasks.
Don't Forget: Do what works for you.
